The Tuscarawas County Art Guild Scholarship

In 2001, because of a generous donation from Delores Peters, the first art scholarship was given to Vivian Mosley, a deserving, hard-working mother who commuted to Pittsburgh, where she attended and later graduated with honors from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 2003.  The Art Guild is fortunate to have our first recipient as a member who has given back tenfold. Overall, Art Guild has awarded a total of fourteen art scholarships to a deserving Tuscarawas County high school senior or college student pursuing a career in the field of art.

Because of a large donation from the Marlite Company in 2006, the Guild was able to give two scholarships: one to Alexis Victor, a 2012 graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, and to co-recipient Logan Phillips who graduated from Asbury College of Kentucky in 2012 with a dual degree in Arts and Media communication.

The remaining scholarships were awarded to the following recipients: Lauren Edwards, 2010; Chelsey Miller and Amber Johnson, 2011; Sydney Waltz, 2012; Tiffany La Coco, 2013; Emma Weaver, 2014; Lauren Singhaus, 2015; Rachel Immel & Madison Miller, 2016; Alyssa Ritter, 2017; Taylor App, 2018; and Brooke Sommers, 2019. Their career paths vary from architecture, graphic design, digital arts, painting, interior design, art education, motion picture production, photo illustration, and applied communications to tattoo art.

The Tuscarawas County Art Guild looks forward to presenting our 21st art scholarship to another deserving recipient in the Summer of 2024. Private and corporate donations will be accepted by the Art Guild by contacting Karen Thornton at 330 327 8185

The Tuscarawas County Art Guild Scholarship is presented to one student a year. If you have a family member or know a local high school senior planning on studying any visual arts in college, please make them aware of the Art Guild's annual Art Scholarship Award. The application form is available as a download, and you may also contact any local art teacher who have the forms available. Should you have questions, send a message on our contact form.
